KALLAR KAHAR: The Punjab Wildlife Department has dispatched a specialized rescue and monitoring team to the scenic tourist destination of Kallar Kahar following credible reports regarding the presence of wolves in the area, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The emergency response was initiated after local residents and visitors reported sightings of the wild animals near residential outskirts and popular recreational spots, sparking widespread concern among the local community.
According to wildlife officials, the deployed team is currently conducting a thorough sweep and surveillance operation across the rugged terrain of Kallar Kahar and its surrounding forested tracts.
Authorities have installed specialized tracking cameras and set up safe monitoring checkpoints to verify the reports and determine whether the animals have strayed from their natural habitat in search of food or water amid changing seasonal weather patterns.
The sudden appearance of wild predators in proximity to human settlements has raised safety concerns among residents and tourists who frequently visit the area’s famous lakes and parks.
Local authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution, particularly during evening and night hours, and to immediately report any unusual wildlife sightings to the district administration or wildlife helpline to prevent potential human-wildlife conflict.
