Islamabad: Pakistani actor Sanam Saeed made a graceful debut at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, turning heads with a traditional South Asian ensemble that proudly reflected Pakistan’s cultural heritage.

The actor appeared at the global cinematic event in an elegant attire blending conventional craftsmanship with a modern touch, earning admiration for celebrating cultural identity on an international red carpet dominated by high-fashion trends.

The 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival brought together artists and filmmakers from around the world, providing Sanam Saeed with a distinguished platform to represent Pakistan and South Asian artistry.

Sharing moments from the festival on Instagram, Sanam described the experience as an “honorary moment,” revealing that she had declined previous invitations to Cannes while waiting for the right opportunity.

“This time, I didn’t go as part of a film team,” she wrote. “I went just as a South Asian woman representing Pakistan and our heritage and craft.”

The actor added that she walked the red carpet for “the women of Pakistan, for the ones who came before us, for the ones who are yet to come, and for the ones who are never seen behind the scenes.”

Sanam also praised the Pakistani designer behind her look for giving traditional craftsmanship a contemporary flair while staying rooted in cultural authenticity.

Her husband, actor Mohib Mirza, applauded her appearance at the international festival, expressing pride in her meaningful representation of Pakistan on a global stage.

In a heartfelt gesture, Sanam dedicated her Cannes appearance to legendary Pakistani actress Shamim Ara, honoring her contributions and efforts in paving the way for women in the entertainment industry.
