Quetta: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has foiled a major drug trafficking attempt in Quetta, Balochistan, recovering 60 kilograms of hashish concealed in a secret compartment beneath the floor of an ambulance and arresting a suspected member of the trafficking network.

According to an ANF spokesperson, the seizure was made during an intelligence-based operation near Sona Khan Chowk in Quetta. Initial information suggests that the narcotics were being transported from Mastung to Quetta under the cover of an ambulance.

The spokesperson said the force had received intelligence reports indicating that traffickers planned to move a large consignment of drugs using the emergency vehicle. Following continuous surveillance and a coordinated operational strategy, ANF personnel intercepted the vehicle and foiled the attempt.

A key suspect allegedly involved in the trafficking activity was arrested during the operation. A case has been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, while further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other members of the network.

The ANF spokesperson noted that the use of ambulances for criminal activities, including drug trafficking, undermines the legitimate purpose of emergency medical services.

In a similar operation recently, the force foiled an alleged attempt to transport narcotics from Balochistan to Sindh during an operation in Shikarpur, recovering drugs concealed in secret compartments of an ambulance.

The latest seizure highlights the ANF’s continued efforts to combat drug trafficking and dismantle networks involved in the illegal narcotics trade as part of its mission to achieve a Drug Free Pakistan.
