Islamabad: Pakistani actor Imran Abbas has revealed why he has been away from television dramas for the past two to three years, disclosing that his focus has shifted from acting to real estate development and philanthropic work.

Known for his memorable performances and striking personality, Imran Abbas remains a popular figure in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, with approximately 8.6 million followers on Instagram.

However, despite his popularity, the actor says he is currently prioritising his business ventures over television appearances.

Speaking by phone during a recent television programme, Imran Abbas confirmed that he had stopped working in television dramas around two to three years ago and indicated that he does not plan to return to the small screen for now.

The actor, who is an architect by profession, revealed that he is devoting much of his time to a major real estate project in Islamabad. He is constructing a 12-storey tower named Eri in Mumtaz City, near Islamabad International Airport. The project is expected to take approximately two and a half years to complete.

His decision marks a significant shift in priorities for an actor who has spent years entertaining audiences through popular television productions. Rather than pursuing new acting opportunities, Abbas appears determined to concentrate on expanding his business interests.

Beyond business, the actor also spoke about his commitment to philanthropy, describing it as an important part of his life. He shared that both his parents have passed away and that, being unmarried and without children, he has fewer immediate family responsibilities.

Abbas explained that he is actively involved in charitable activities, hoping his contributions will become sadaqah jariyah — a form of ongoing charity whose benefits continue beyond a person’s lifetime — and bring rewards in the hereafter.

Throughout his career, Imran Abbas has appeared in numerous acclaimed Pakistani dramas, including Noor-ul-Ain, Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan, Khuda Aur Mohabbat, Koi Chand Rakh, Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida, Ahram-e-Junoon, Tumhare Ishq Ke Naam, and Akbari Asghari. He has also received recognition for his work in Indian entertainment productions.

While his absence from television may disappoint fans hoping to see him in new dramas, Abbas’s recent remarks suggest that he is entering a different phase of his professional life, balancing entrepreneurial ambitions with a commitment to charitable causes.
