Lahore:Renowned Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar has revealed that he contemplated leaving the entertainment industry multiple times, citing the impact of internal politics on his career.
Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, Zafar shared candid insights into the challenges he has faced over the years, particularly how the industry’s environment affected him both personally and professionally.
The artist, who recently emerged from a prolonged legal dispute with fellow singer Meesha Shafi, said the controversy had initially taken a toll on his career.

However, he managed to sustain his professional standing despite the setbacks.
Reflecting on his journey, Zafar said he entered showbiz with a simple and sincere goal—to create art. “I have always loved my work and received immense respect from Pakistan, but at my core, I am just an artist,” he noted.
He added that the growing influence of politics within the industry altered that experience, making him question his place in it. “When such factors begin to affect you, they can change you as a person. At times, I felt it might be better to walk away,” he said.
Zafar also credited his family’s unwavering support as a key factor in helping him navigate difficult periods and remain resilient through personal and professional challenges.
