UNSC Condemns Kohat Terrorist Attack, Demands Accountability

ISLAMABAD: The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has strongly condemned the deadly terrorist assault in Kohat district, demanding that the perpetrators, organizers, and financial sponsors behind the attack be brought to justice.
The September 18 two-pronged assault resulted in the martyrdom of at least 23 people, comprising 17 police personnel and six civilians, sending shockwaves across the nation and drawing widespread international condemnation.
According to details released by the KP police, the carnage began when terrorists detonated an explosives-laden vehicle near a mosque within the old Police Lines during Friday prayers, followed by a coordinated storming of the compound.
Security forces responded robustly, neutralizing eight terrorists in the ensuing firefight.
A formal statement issued by Council President Jérôme Bonnafont on behalf of France labeled the suicide bombing as a heinous and cowardly act, reiterating the international community’s unwavering solidarity with Pakistan.
The UNSC member states extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the government of Pakistan, wishing a swift recovery to those injured in the blast.
