Two Children Killed, Five Injured in School Van Attack

Attock: At least two children have been killed and five others injured after gunmen opened fire on a school van in Dheri Kot, Attock, according to rescue officials speaking to Geo News on Thursday. 

The injured children, aged between five and 12, have been shifted to the THQ hospital.

The victims included a nine-year-old boy and a ten-year-old girl who were killed. The five injured children were aged four, seven, eight, eight, and 12.

In response to the attack, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has requested a report from Rawalpindi Commissioner Abdul Amir Khattak. 

She has also expressed deep sorrow over the children’s deaths and instructed authorities to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured.

President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the “cruel” attack, calling it a shameful act targeting innocent children. He has directed authorities to take stringent action against those responsible.

Lahore Tragedy Puts Spotlight on Safety Failures After Tuition Centre Collapse

A deadly roof collapse at a private tuition centre in Lahore’s Kahna area has triggered an urgent review of building safety measures after at least 14 children lost their lives in the incident.

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir said 19 students were shifted to Kahna Tehsil Headquarters Hospital following the collapse. Medical officials confirmed that 14 children died from their injuries, while two were discharged after treatment. Four injured students remain hospitalized under medical supervision.

The incident has raised renewed questions over the safety of private educational facilities and the enforcement of construction standards, as authorities begin investigating the cause of the collapse.
