Trump Claims Record Popularity, Polls Show Otherwise

Washington: US President Donald Trump has claimed that his public approval rating has reached its highest level ever, but recent national opinion polls do not support the assertion.

In a post on his social media platform on Monday, Trump wrote, “My poll numbers are the highest they’ve ever been, even higher than Election Day on November 5.” 

He also linked the claim to his administration’s stance on Iran, saying, “Iran will not have nuclear weapons.”

However, none of the major national surveys released in recent weeks show Trump‘s approval rating at a record high.

A Fox News poll conducted earlier this month found that 39% of Americans approve of Trump’s job performance, while 60% disapprove.

Other nationally recognized surveys reported similar findings:

• * A Reuters/Ipsos poll recorded 34% approval and 64% disapproval.
• * A Marquette Law School poll found 38% approval compared with 62% disapproval.
• * A Quinnipiac University survey showed 38% approval and 55% disapproval.
• * The Strength in Numbers/Verasight poll reported 37% approval and 60% disapproval.

Polling averages compiled by several US media organizations also indicate that Trump’s disapproval rating has consistently exceeded his approval rating in recent weeks.

While individual poll results vary due to differences in methodology, sample size and field dates, the broader trend across national surveys remains consistent.

The Fox News survey also found that Trump’s approval rating among several key voter groups, including men, White Americans, White evangelical Christians and Republican voters, was close to its lowest level recorded during his presidency.

The White House did not identify the survey or data Trump referenced in his social media post. Requests from US media outlets seeking clarification were not immediately answered.

Based on the latest publicly available national polling, Trump’s approval rating remains below his disapproval rating, contradicting his claim that it has reached an all-time high.
