ABBOTTABAD: Mohammad Rizwan staged a remarkable comeback in domestic cricket, scoring an unbeaten double century on the second day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold tournament, propelling Peshawar Blues to a commanding position against Faisalabad.

Rizwan’s innings came in the wake of a turbulent period following Pakistan’s disappointing Test series in England, where he was among seven players sent home after the second Test at Lord’s.

Currently under investigation by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency for issues related to the tour, Rizwan’s performance was a timely response, finishing the day on 200 runs off 252 balls, including 35 fours and one six.

Peshawar declared at 503 for four in 115.2 overs, having resumed the day at 306 for three. Najab Khan, who was the overnight centurion, contributed 133 runs, while Mohammad Haris added an impressive 70 runs off just 69 balls, showcasing the team’s strong batting lineup.

This performance not only boosts Rizwan’s confidence but also highlights the resilience of the Peshawar Blues as they aim for success in the tournament.

As the investigation continues, Rizwan’s focus will likely shift towards maintaining his form and contributing to his team’s success in upcoming matches.
