Retired Policeman Arrested After Allegedly Killing Wife

Islamabad: A domestic dispute turned fatal in Islamabad’s Ghauri Town Phase 7 area, where a retired sub-inspector of Islamabad Police allegedly shot and killed his wife, police said on Monday.
According to police sources, the incident took place on June 15, 2026, at House No. 389, Street No. 13, Akbar Arcade in Ghauri Town Phase 7. Police teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the incident, cordoned off the area, and began collecting evidence.
Initial investigations revealed that the accused, identified as retired Sub-Inspector Tariq, who retired from Islamabad Police around a year ago, had reportedly been involved in prolonged domestic disputes with his wife.
Police said that during a heated argument, the accused allegedly opened fire with a pistol, killing his wife on the spot.

Authorities took immediate action and arrested the suspect at the scene. The weapon allegedly used in the murder was also recovered from his possession.
The accused was later shifted to Koral Police Station for further legal proceedings and investigation.
According to police officials, the victim’s body has been moved to the hospital for post-mortem examination and legal formalities, while forensic teams collected evidence from the crime scene.
Investigators are examining all aspects of the case to determine the exact motive and circumstances behind the killing.
Police officials stated that initial findings suggest the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute; however, final conclusions will only be drawn after completion of the investigation and forensic analysis.
The process of registering a formal case and further legal action is currently underway.
The incident has sparked concern among local residents, with many expressing alarm over the rising number of domestic violence cases in the federal capital.
