Police Disrupt PTI Meeting in Swabi

News Desk

SWABI: The KP Police conducted raids across various areas on Sunday to prevent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers from gathering for a meeting in the Shewa Adda area of Razaar tehsil.

The meeting, which was to be addressed by former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, was thwarted following the imposition of governor’s rule and a state of emergency in the province.

Despite the police presence, some PTI leaders urged workers to convene at the Razaar Sports Complex in Shewa Adda.

The crackdown by law enforcement began shortly after the emergency was declared, with police intensifying patrols in the area to deter any potential gatherings of PTI supporters.

This police action reflects the heightened political tensions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the imposition of governor’s rule has raised concerns about civil liberties and the right to assembly.

The deployment of a significant number of police personnel at strategic locations, including Karnal Sher Khan Chowk and the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway, indicates a robust response to any anticipated protests.

Looking ahead, PTI leaders may seek alternative venues for their gatherings, while the provincial government is likely to maintain its stringent measures to control political dissent.

The situation remains fluid, and further developments are expected as the political landscape evolves.
