Police Arrest Man Accused of Poisoning Son-in-Law

Rawalpindi: Rawat Police have arrested a man accused of poisoning his son-in-law to death by allegedly forcing him to consume toxic wheat preservation tablets after a domestic dispute.
According to a police spokesperson on Wednesday, the victim named his father-in-law as the attacker in his dying declaration before succumbing to the poisoning.
Police said the suspect was traced and arrested through technical surveillance and human intelligence during the investigation. A murder case has been registered at Rawat Police Station in December 2025, and further legal proceedings are in progress.
SSP (Operations) Orders Swift Action on Public Complaints
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Malik Tariq Mehboob has directed police officers to ensure the prompt resolution of public complaints, warning that negligence in addressing citizens’ grievances will not be tolerated.
The directives were issued during an open court (Khuli Katchery) held at the Police Lines Headquarters on Wednesday, where residents presented their concerns directly to the SSP.
Malik Tariq Mehboob instructed the relevant officers to take legal action on all marked applications within the prescribed timeframe and stressed the need to provide timely relief through efficient service delivery at police stations.
He said safeguarding the lives and property of citizens and improving public services remain the Rawalpindi Police’s top priorities in line with the Punjab chief minister’s vision, adding that efforts are underway to strengthen policing and enhance public trust in the department.
