ISLAMABAD: Dr Muhammad Salman has been removed from his position as the Executive Director (ED) of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

The Ministry of Health confirmed the decision, stating that Professor Tanveer Khalique has been appointed as the interim Executive Director.

Professor Khalique, who is currently serving as the Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University, will take over the responsibilities at PIMS following Dr. Salman’s dismissal.

The reasons for Dr. Salman’s removal have not been disclosed, but sources indicate that it may be linked to ongoing administrative challenges within the healthcare facility.

This change in leadership at PIMS comes at a critical time when the institution is facing scrutiny over its management and service delivery.

The healthcare sector in Pakistan has been under pressure to improve its standards, and this transition may signal a shift towards more effective governance in public health.

Looking ahead, the Ministry of Health is expected to outline further steps regarding the management of PIMS, including potential reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.

Stakeholders are keenly observing how this leadership change will impact patient care and administrative practices at the institute.
