Islamabad: At least nine police personnel were martyred in a terrorist attack in the Kach Mangi Phase III area of Balochistan’s Ziarat district, while eight officers, including a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), who had gone missing during the assault, were later found safe after a joint security operation.
Balochistan government spokesperson and Chief Minister’s Adviser on Information, Shahid Rind, said a large-scale clearance operation had been successfully completed following the attack.
The operation was jointly conducted by the Frontier Corps (FC), Balochistan Police, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), the Special Operations Wing (SOW), and the Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF).
According to Rind, the primary objectives of the operation were to clear the area of militants and locate police personnel who had gone missing during the attack.
He confirmed that nine police officers and personnel embraced martyrdom in the attack. Among the slain were the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mangi Police Station, the SHO of Kawas Police Station, ATF In-charge Head Constable Saifullah, and several other police officials.
The bodies of the martyred personnel are being shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Ziarat for legal formalities and postmortem examinations.
Rind also confirmed that eight missing police officials, including DSP Ghulam Sarwar, safely reached Kach Police Station after navigating difficult mountainous terrain. Another missing officer, Constable Rizwan, was also recovered safely.
Expressing condolences over the loss of police personnel, Rind paid tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs and reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to combating terrorism.
“The Government of Balochistan salutes the sacrifices of our martyrs. Security operations will continue until terrorism is completely eradicated from the province,” he said.
The attack triggered an intense gun battle between terrorists and police in the Mangi area of Ziarat, prompting security forces to launch a coordinated operation that eventually brought the situation under control. Additional input from Aaj News website.
