PMD Forecasts Rain-Thunderstorm in Parts of Country

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts rain-wind-thunderstorms with snow over hills in Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, upper/central Punjab, and Potohar region within the next 24 hours.

Few stations are anticipated to see hailstorms over the forecast period. In Kashmir, north Balochistan, and upper KP, a few heavy falls are also likely to happen. Most of the country can expect cloudy weather to prevail. Cloudy conditions with rain, wind, and thunderstorms are anticipated in Islamabad.

Rain-wind/thunderstorm occurred in upper and central Balochistan, KP, upper/central Punjab, Potohar region, GB and Kashmir.

Gloomy Prediction for KP

The majority of the KP’s districts are predicted to have gloomy weather. However, Chitral, Kurram, Waziristan, Dir, Swat, Balakot, Kohistan, Kohat, Peshawar, Mardan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan are predicted to see rain, wind, and snow over hills. Throughout the period, a few heavy falls are also anticipated in upper areas.

Rain, Wind for Punjab 

Cloudy weather is anticipated in the majority of Punjab’s districts, with rain, wind, and thunderstorms possible in Murree, Galliyat including Potohar region, Gujranwala, Lahore, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Mianwali and Bhakkar.

Cloudy for Balochistan

Cloudy weather is predicted for the majority of Balochistan’supper areas. Nevertheless, Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Chaman, Sibbi, Khuzdar, Kalat, Naseerabad, Barkhan, Panjgur, Kech, Dalbandin, and Nokkundi are likely to see rain, wind/thunderstorms. Northern districts are also anticipated to have few heavy falls around this time.

Dry for Sindh

In Sindh, dry weather is predicted for the majority of the province’s districts while partly overcast conditions are predicted for Sukkur, Larkana, and surrounding areas. Rain, wind, and thunderstorms are predicted in Kashmir and GB, with snow covering the hills. In Kashmir, a few heavy falls are also anticipated during this time.

The snowfall recorded in Astore and Skardu was traces. The lowest minimum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours are Leh -06°C and Kalam -03°C.
