Pakistan Simplifies Passport Application System via Pak ID Mobile App

ISLAMABAD: In a major digital governance overhaul, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has decided to integrate the national passport application system with the National Database and Registration Authority’s (NADRA) Pak ID mobile application.
Chairing a high-level review meeting in the federal capital, Director General Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa examined the comprehensive framework required to link passport issuance services directly with NADRA centers and the digital platform, aiming to streamline bureaucratic procedures for citizens.
The integration represents a crucial step toward paperless governance and digital inclusion, allowing applicants to bypass traditional long queues and process essential identity and travel document requirements remotely through their smartphones, significantly reducing processing bottlenecks.
Authorities have directed the relevant technical teams to finalize the integration protocols and system testing phases, with a formal rollout expected in the coming weeks as part of the broader administrative reforms.
