Pakistan Launches Indigenous EO-3 Satellite from China

Islamabad: The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has achieved a major milestone with the successful launch of Pakistan’s indigenous Electro-Optical Satellite (EO-3) from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in China on Saturday.

The EO-3 satellite launch marks a significant step forward in Pakistan’s efforts toward self-reliance and technological advancement in the space sector.

Equipped with advanced imaging capabilities, the satellite is expected to enhance applications in urban planning, disaster management, food security, and environmental monitoring.

Officials said the EO-3 will contribute to the development of a comprehensive Earth observation system designed to support national priorities across multiple sectors and promote sustainable socio-economic development.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the achievement, commending the dedication and technical expertise of SUPARCO engineers and scientists.

He also acknowledged the continued support of China, describing it as Pakistan’s “all-weather strategic partner,” and highlighted cooperation in the space sector as part of broader scientific and technological collaboration between the two countries.
