PAC Demands Complete Report On F-9 Park Incident

Islamabad: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) demanded a full report on the rape incident at the Fatima Jinnah F-9 park on Wednesday and instructed the pertinent authorities to move quickly to prosecute the offenders.

PAC Chairman Noor Alam Khan stated that the unfortunate incident happened on Saturday. He questioned Islamabad Police as to why it has not ensured that the criminals responsible for the tragedy are dealt with effectively.

To prevent unfavourable events in the future, Noor Alam Khan requested of Islamabad Police that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) employees who operate in F-9 Park be included in the inquiry process.

Inspectors General of Police (IGP) Akbar Nasir Khan informed the committee that the police are carrying out a proper inquiry while taking into account all relevant factors and making sure the culprits of this terrible crime are apprehended.

Further, the Chairman instructed the Islamabad Police to take harsh action against riders who ride motorcycles without number plates.

The potential measures have raised concerns among consumers and industry stakeholders, particularly at a time when the country has been witnessing growing interest in renewable energy and fuel-efficient transport alternatives.

Meanwhile, the textile sector has urged the government to immediately release pending refunds worth Rs327 billion and reduce electricity, gas and taxation burdens on industries.

Industrial representatives have argued that lower utility costs and timely refunds are essential for boosting exports and supporting economic recovery.

Sources said the government is considering limited relief measures for exporters, which could provide benefits of up to Rs100 billion. However, chances of a major relief package for the export sector remain slim at this stage.
