Murree: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast strong winds, thunderstorms and intermittent heavy rainfall in Murree, Galiyat and adjoining areas from July 25 to August 3, prompting local authorities to issue safety guidelines for tourists and residents.

District Police Officer (DPO) Murree Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer has issued a security and traffic advisory, warning that continuous rainfall could increase the risk of landslides, falling rocks and flash floods in seasonal streams.

According to the advisory, heavy downpours are expected in different areas of Murree and Galiyat between July 25 and August 2. The DPO urged citizens and tourists to avoid visiting streams, water channels and landslide-prone locations during the rainy spell.

He advised visitors planning trips to Murree to check weather and road conditions in advance through the “Safe Tourism App” and follow safety instructions while travelling.

Motorists have been directed to maintain lane discipline, use fog lights and windshield wipers during poor weather conditions, and avoid illegal overtaking or parking at narrow and risky turns to ensure smooth traffic movement.

DPO Murree said police personnel, traffic wardens and emergency response teams have been placed on high alert to manage any emergency situation and keep roads accessible.

He urged the public to contact the police helpline and control room immediately in case of any emergency or if assistance is required during travel.
