KARACHI: In a horrific incident of violent domestic abuse, a woman was tortured to death by her former husband after he forcibly entered her residence in the Khaskheli Goth area of Memon Goth, police confirmed on Thursday.

The victim, identified by law enforcement as Mahnoor, sustained lethal injuries during the violent assault and died on the spot before medical assistance could be rendered.

According to preliminary police reports, the suspect broke into the victim’s home early in the day, leading to a heated confrontation that quickly escalated into physical torture.

Investigating officers revealed that the couple had ended their marriage through a legal divorce just a few days prior to the incident, which appears to be the primary motive behind the targeted attack.

Police teams arrived at the scene shortly after neighbors reported the violence, securing the premises and transferring the victim’s body to a state hospital for required medico-legal procedures.

The gruesome killing underscores the relentless threat of gender-based violence and domestic abuse confronting women across the country, particularly those navigating post-divorce disputes.

Human rights organizations and legal activists have continuously raised concerns regarding the severe safety risks faced by vulnerable women, emphasizing the urgent need for robust protective frameworks, active restraining order mechanisms, and swift judicial accountability to deter recurring incidents of intimate partner violence.

Senior law enforcement officials confirmed that a formal murder investigation has been initiated at the Memon Goth Police Station.

Specialized police units and forensic teams have gathered evidence from the crime scene, while targeted raids are currently underway across Karachi to locate and apprehend the fleeing perpetrator.

Police authorities assured that the suspect will be brought to justice swiftly under the full extent of the law.
