Child Domestic Worker Dies in Sheikhupura, Man Arrested

SHEIKHUPURA: A 12-year-old domestic worker, identified as Zainab, has died following alleged physical abuse at a house in Sheikhupura, prompting police to arrest a man, Rafaqat, in connection with the case.

According to police, the incident occurred on Khalid Road, where Zainab had been working as a domestic helper at Rafaqat’s residence. Her family said the child had been employed in the household for approximately one and a half years.

The family alleged that the woman of the house subjected Zainab to severe physical violence, reportedly beating her with sticks and rods, which they believe led to her death.

Following the family’s allegations, police took action and arrested Rafaqat. Further investigation is under way to establish the circumstances surrounding the child’s death and determine responsibility.

Zainab’s body has been shifted to a hospital for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.

The allegations have raised renewed concerns about the safety and protection of children employed in domestic work. The circumstances of the incident and the responsibility of those involved will be subject to the ongoing investigation.
