Lawyer Shot Dead in Alleged Second Marriage Dispute

Rawalpindi: A lawyer was shot dead in Rawalpindi’s Dhamial village, allegedly over a dispute related to a second marriage, prompting the Rawalpindi District Bar Association to announce a strike in protest.

According to police sources, lawyer Chaudhry Kashif Taimur was allegedly lured to a house in the Saddar Barooni area late at night, where he was shot dead.

Police said a case has been registered at Saddar Barooni Police Station on the complaint of the deceased’s cousin.

The FIR names four suspects, including the victim’s wife, Shaista Razaq, her son Hasnain Azhar, daughter Noor-ul-Ain, and Hassan Ali.

According to the complaint, Hasnain Azhar allegedly called the lawyer and asked him to come to the house, where the shooting took place. Investigators are probing the circumstances surrounding the incident, which is believed to have stemmed from a family dispute linked to the lawyer’s second marriage.

Following the killing, the Rawalpindi District Bar Association condemned the incident and announced a strike. Lawyers boycotted court proceedings to demand justice and the swift arrest of those responsible.

Police said further investigation is underway, while efforts are being made to apprehend the nominated suspects.
