Karachi Gripped by Heatwave as Met Office Rules Out Rain Chances

KARACHI: A fresh spell of hot and humid weather has gripped Pakistan’s southern port city, with the Met Office confirming on Monday that there are no immediate prospects of rainfall to bring relief to citizens.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), temperatures in the metropolis are expected to remain high due to an increase in humidity levels in the atmosphere.
The weather system currently prevailing over the region has completely ruled out any chance of showers in the coming days, leaving residents to endure sweltering conditions.
The return of the heatwave has raised concerns among health experts and urban planners regarding public well-being, particularly for daily wage workers and commuters exposed to direct sunlight. High humidity combined with elevated temperatures often leads to heat exhaustion and dehydration, placing an additional burden on local healthcare facilities.
Meteorological officials have advised citizens to take necessary precautions, including staying hydrated and avoiding unnecessary outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours.
