JHELUM: In a major relief initiative aimed at mitigating the burden of soaring inflation, the federal government has announced a substantial fuel subsidy for motorcyclists in Jhelum, Sohawa, and Dina, allowing riders to receive Rs600 worth of petrol by paying only Rs100.
The announcement was detailed by Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani during his visit to various fuel stations across the region.
The targeted subsidy framework under the Prime Minister’s Relief Package is designed to offer direct financial support to daily wage earners and low-income commuters heavily dependent on two-wheelers for their livelihood.
The steep rise in petroleum prices over recent months has severely impacted the purchasing power of the working class, prompting authorities to roll out localized relief measures.
Economic analysts note that while such targeted interventions provide immediate respite to vulnerable segments, ensuring sustainable execution across broader regions remains a critical administrative challenge for policymakers.
Implementation modalities at designated fuel pumps are being closely monitored by district authorities to prevent mismanagement.
