Rawalpindi: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Rawalpindi Division has uncovered an illegal slaughterhouse operating inside a residential house in Main Bazaar, Chakwal, during a raid conducted on a public complaint.

According to a PFA spokesperson, the authority’s team found illegal slaughtering activities underway at the premises, where meat was being prepared in highly unhygienic conditions.

The slaughterhouse had been secretly established inside the residential property, with proper cleanliness and hygienic slaughtering arrangements absent, the spokesperson said.

Following the raid, the PFA lodged a report against the illegal slaughterhouse with the relevant police station, leading to the registration of a case.

The spokesperson said the authority was continuing its crackdown on illegal slaughterhouses across Punjab to ensure the availability of safe and quality meat to citizens.

Citizens have been urged to report violations and food safety complaints to the Punjab Food Authority helpline at 1223.
