Burglars Steal Antiques from Nawab of Bahawalpur’s Family Home

ISLAMABAD: In a shocking incident, burglars have stolen antiques and heirlooms valued at over Rs20 million from the residence of Prince Bahawal Abbas Khan Abbasi, a member of the Nawab of Bahawalpur’s family, in the F-8/3 sector of Islamabad.
The theft occurred amidst a spate of eight burglary incidents in the capital, totaling losses exceeding Rs34 million, according to police reports.
The family discovered the theft when they found their storeroom broken into, with numerous priceless items missing. Among the stolen artifacts were a silver throne chair, silver bowls, gold plates, and a large silver frame adorned with the Bahawalpur State crest.
Additionally, antique arms, including old muskets and swords, were taken, highlighting the cultural significance of the loss.
This incident raises concerns about the security of heritage properties and the protection of cultural artifacts in Pakistan. The theft not only affects the Nawab’s family but also poses a broader threat to the preservation of the country’s historical legacy.
The police have registered a case under Sections 454 and 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code, emphasizing the seriousness of the crime.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation, and the complainant has indicated that a supplementary list of missing items will be provided once the inventory is completed.
The police are urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities as they work to recover the stolen items and apprehend those responsible.
