ICT Police Arrest 498 Suspects in Massive Anti-Crime Crackdown

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police have apprehended 498 alleged criminals and outlaws during a sweeping, coordinated crackdown across the federal capital, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.

The extensive security initiative was launched to dismantle street-crime rings, detain wanted fugitives, and bolster general public safety across all administrative zones of the city.

According to a police spokesperson, specialized teams from the City, Saddar, Industrial Area, Rural, and Soan divisions conducted targeted search and strike operations under the direct supervision of senior commanders.

The arrested individuals include proclaimed offenders, court absconders, and suspects implicated in armed robberies, vehicle theft, and illicit narcotics distribution.

During the operations, law enforcement officers recovered significant caches of unlicenced weapons, ammunition, narcotics, and looted property, which will be submitted as evidence in upcoming court proceedings.

The intensified policing drive comes amid a broader strategy by federal authorities to ensure airtight security across Islamabad, protecting civilian neighborhoods alongside key government and diplomatic enclaves.

Senior police officials noted that modern surveillance infrastructure, combined with intelligence-led community policing, is playing a pivotal role in pinpointing criminal hideouts and preempting gang activities before they can disrupt public peace.

Police authorities confirmed that legal cases have been formally registered against the detained suspects at corresponding territorial police stations, with investigation officers preparing comprehensive challans for rapid judicial processing.

Officials emphasized that rigorous snap-checking, night patrols, and intelligence-based cordon-and-search operations will remain active indefinitely to deter unlawful elements throughout the federal territory.
