Islamabad Roads Remain Fully Open: Info Ministry
News Desk
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Friday clarified that all major roads and thoroughfares in the federal capital remain fully open for traffic, dismissing rumors of widespread blockades.
The official statement aims to dispel public anxiety and counter misinformation circulating on social media regarding potential lockdowns or security-related road closures across Islamabad.
According to the ministry’s spokesperson, traffic is flowing normally on key arteries, including the Srinagar Highway, Islamabad Expressway, and Murree Road.
The government emphasized that no containers or barricades have been placed to obstruct public movement, urging citizens to rely only on verified official updates rather than speculative online reports.
“The daily life and commercial activities in the capital are proceeding without any disruption,” the ministry stated in its official press release.
The clarification comes amid heightened political activity and security concerns in the region, which often lead to preemptive road closures and traffic diversions.
Such rumors frequently cause panic among commuters, students, and businesses, disrupting daily routines and impacting economic activities in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
By issuing a timely rebuttal, the administration seeks to maintain public order and ensure smooth economic operations.
The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police and local administration have been instructed to monitor traffic flow continuously and keep the public informed through regular radio and digital updates.
Authorities have also warned that strict action will be taken against individuals spreading false information or creating unnecessary panic among the citizens.
