Gunmen Snatch Cash, Car After Kidnapping Doctor

Layyah: A chest specialist was allegedly abducted at gunpoint and robbed by armed men in Layyah before being abandoned near Shorkot, police said on Wednesday.
According to the first information report (FIR), unidentified suspects travelling in a white car intercepted Dr. Zahid Hameed Chughtai near Siddique Central Park within the jurisdiction of City Police Station.
Police said the armed men allegedly forced the doctor into their vehicle at gunpoint, covered his face with a cloth and shifted him to the back seat before fleeing the area.
During the incident, the suspects reportedly snatched Rs240,000 in cash, a wristwatch, ATM cards, a mobile phone, documents of two vehicles and other valuables from the victim.
According to police sources, the suspects later released the doctor near Shorkot and escaped with his car and stolen belongings.

The accused also allegedly withdrew Rs98,000 from an ATM using the victim’s bank card before disappearing. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to trace and arrest the suspects involved in the incident.

Police arrested main accused hours after he along with his accomplices allegedly forced entry into a house and criminally assaulted a woman in the city, police said on Thursday.
Police took swift action on the orders of DPO Muhammad Abid in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for the protection of women.
According to police sources, unidentified suspects allegedly entered a house, tied the victim’s husband with ropes, and sexually assaulted the woman. Taking immediate notice of the incident, DPO directed officers to ensure prompt legal action.
Police registered a case on the complaint of the affected woman and, during a timely operation, arrested the main accused involved in the crime. Further investigation is underway from all aspects.
DPO Muhammad Abid stated that the affected family would be provided justice at all costs and emphasized that individuals involved in crimes against women deserve no leniency.
