Google Unveils AI Inbox Feature That Lets You Talk to Gmail

Islamabad: Google has announced a new artificial intelligence-powered feature for Gmail that will allow users to search their inboxes using voice commands instead of typing.
The feature, introduced during Google’s annual developer conference, is powered by the company’s Gemini AI technology and has been named “Gmail Live.”
According to Google, the new tool is designed to help users quickly locate important information hidden within hundreds of emails in their inboxes through natural voice interaction.
With Gmail Live, users will be able to ask spoken questions about details such as flight schedules, doctor’s appointments, reservations, or other information stored in their emails. The AI assistant will respond with relevant results and can also handle follow-up questions during the conversation.

Currently, Gmail users typically rely on the search bar by entering keywords, email addresses, or domains to find specific messages or details.
Google said the AI-powered feature aims to make email search faster and more conversational, especially for users managing large inboxes.
The company clarified, however, that the traditional Gmail search system will remain available and will not be replaced by Gmail Live.
The announcement reflects Google’s broader push to integrate Gemini AI capabilities across its products and services as competition in the AI sector continues to intensify.
