Former Cricketer Makes Match-Fixing Allegations in IPL 2025

New Delhi: Allegations of match-fixing and betting have resurfaced in Indian cricket, with former first-class cricketer Rajat Bhatia making claims about the Indian Premier League (IPL) and domestic cricket.

According to Indian media reports, Bhatia made the allegations during a sting operation, claiming that information about the final playing XI was shared with London-based bookmakers before matches during IPL 2025.

Reports said suspicions had also been raised over five IPL matches.

Bhatia alleged that Vinesh Bedi, who was associated with Chennai Super Kings, obtained details of the playing XI before matches and passed the information to bookmakers in London through Snapchat.

He further claimed that around Rs30 million (3 crore) was paid for the information and that those involved were trained to use codes and emojis to communicate the details.

Bhatia also alleged that match-fixing occurred during the 2018 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He claimed that following the IPL, he was paid around Rs4 million (40 lakh) per match in connection with alleged fixing in domestic cricket.

The allegations have been reported by Indian media, but the claims have not been established as fact. Any investigation or official findings by cricket authorities would be required to determine whether the alleged activities took place.
