Islamabad: An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale jolted Islamabad and several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, causing panic among r esidents.

According to reports, tremors were felt in Peshawar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Swabi, Haripur, Charsadda, Mardan, and Malakand, prompting people to rush out of homes and offices in fear.

The Seismological Center confirmed that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.4, with its epicenter located in the Hindu Kush mountain range.

Following the tremors, residents recited prayers while evacuating buildings as a precaution. However, no immediate reports of casualties or property damage were received.

Authorities are monitoring the situation and assessing any potential impact.

Few days earlier, strong tremors were felt across several cities in Punjab and parts of the twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Tuesday after an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck the region, causing panic among residents.

According to reports, tremors were experienced in Lahore, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhelum, Okara, Sheikhupura, Phalia, Malikwal, and Depalpur, as well as surrounding areas.

The Seismological Center confirmed that the earthquake had a depth of 18 kilometers, with its epicenter located in Gujranwala.

Following the tremors, residents rushed out of homes and offices reciting prayers amid fear and panic. However, no immediate reports of casualties or property damage have been received.
