14 Prisoners Escape from Prison Van, Four Recaptured

Kahuta:Fourteen prisoners escaped from a prison van in Kahuta on Monday while being transported to Adiala Jail following their appearance in court. Police have since recaptured four of the escapees.
According to police sources, the prisoners managed to flee after the prison van was stopped for a routine check. During the stop, one of the prisoners allegedly threw chili powder into the eyes of police personnel, creating confusion and allowing the inmates to escape.
Police launched an extensive search operation immediately after the incident. Authorities said four of the escaped prisoners have been re-arrested, while efforts are ongoing to trace the remaining fugitives.
Security has been tightened across Kahuta, with all entry and exit points sealed. A heavy police contingent has been deployed as the search operation continues.
Meanwhile, a domestic dispute turned fatal in Islamabad’s Ghauri Town Phase 7 area, where a retired sub-inspector of Islamabad Police allegedly shot and killed his wife, police said on Monday.
According to police sources, the incident took place on June 15, 2026, at House No. 389, Street No. 13, Akbar Arcade in Ghauri Town Phase 7. Police teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the incident, cordoned off the area, and began collecting evidence.
Initial investigations revealed that the accused, identified as retired Sub-Inspector Tariq, who retired from Islamabad Police around a year ago, had reportedly been involved in prolonged domestic disputes with his wife.
