Tehran: Iran has made progress in negotiations with the United States conditional on Washington accepting seven demands put forward by Tehran, signalling that diplomatic efforts cannot advance without addressing its key concerns.

In a statement shared on social media, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said Tehran was reviewing a letter received from the United States. However, he stressed that any progress towards negotiations would depend on the acceptance of Iran’s seven conditions.

Qalibaf said Iran had repeatedly conveyed its demands to Washington through intermediaries and that US officials were already aware of Tehran’s position. He warned that attempts to pressure Iran or persuade it through limited concessions would not achieve the desired results.

Reaffirming Tehran’s position, the parliamentary speaker said Iran would not agree to move forward with negotiations unless its conditions were addressed.

Among the demands outlined by Iran as part of its proposed framework for ending the conflict and resuming diplomatic engagement are the lifting of the naval blockade, the release of Iranian assets frozen abroad and an end to Israel’s military campaign in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Wednesday that Tehran remained in regular contact with intermediaries regarding the implementation of its seven-point plan.

He added that discussions were underway on proposals that could pave the way for implementing the plan within less than a week.

Araghchi said Iran wanted to give diplomacy another opportunity and remained willing to pursue negotiations as a means of resolving the ongoing conflict.

Recent statements from Iranian officials suggest that Tehran remains open to diplomatic engagement with Washington but intends to make any potential agreement dependent on the acceptance of its proposed conditions.
