Karachi: Table-toppers Peshawar Zalmi will aim to tighten their grip on the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11 standings after opting to field first against Quetta Gladiators in the 23rd match at the National Bank Stadium on Wednesday.

With momentum firmly on their side, Zalmi entered the contest unbeaten in six outings, including five victories and one rain-hit no result. Their strong run has propelled them to the top of the table, reflecting both consistency and depth across departments.

In contrast, Quetta Gladiators have struggled to find rhythm this season, alternating between wins and losses. Despite a convincing victory in their last outing, their campaign has been marked by inconsistency, leaving them eager to stabilize their performance against a high-flying opponent.

The rivalry between the two sides has historically been closely contested. Out of 26 meetings, Zalmi hold a slight edge with 13 wins, while Gladiators trail closely with 12 victories, alongside one no-result. However, Quetta will draw confidence from their dominant 64-run win in their most recent encounter during the previous edition.

Peshawar Zalmi, led by Babar Azam, boast a balanced squad featuring experienced internationals and emerging talent, while Quetta Gladiators, under Saud Shakeel’s captaincy, will rely on their mix of explosive batting and potent bowling to challenge the league leaders.

As the tournament progresses into a crucial phase, the clash offers Zalmi a chance to solidify their top position, while Gladiators look to build momentum and reassert themselves in the playoff race.
