ISLAMABAD: At least two Pakistani nationals and a foreigner have been sentenced to seven years in prison for their involvement in a fraudulent scheme that defrauded investors of 19.4 million Pakistani Rupees.

The verdict was delivered following a thorough investigation by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in Islamabad.

The case centered around an online investment fraud that lured victims with promises of high returns.

The NCCIA’s effective investigation and subsequent judicial proceedings highlighted the growing threat of cybercrime in Pakistan, prompting officials to take a firmer stance against such illicit activities.

An NCCIA spokesperson stated, “This case underscores our commitment to combating cyber fraud and protecting citizens from financial scams.”

This ruling serves as a warning to potential fraudsters and aims to restore public confidence in online investment platforms.

As cybercrime continues to rise globally, the Pakistani government is under pressure to enhance regulatory frameworks and law enforcement capabilities to safeguard its citizens.

Moving forward, the NCCIA plans to launch further investigations into similar cases and collaborate with international agencies to tackle cross-border cyber fraud.

Authorities are also expected to conduct awareness campaigns to educate the public on recognizing and avoiding online scams.
