Suspected Gas Leak Kills Three Women
News Desk
Karachi: Three women were discovered dead inside a house in Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s Block 1 on Sunday, police and rescue officials confirmed.
Rescue teams also found a man in an unconscious state inside the residence.
According to an initial police statement, the deaths appear to have been caused by suffocation from a suspected gas leak, though officials said a detailed investigation is underway.
Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar took notice of the incident and directed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East to ensure a transparent inquiry.
Gas-related accidents have been reported frequently in the city. Last month, a woman critically injured in a gas leakage explosion in Karachi’s Korangi No. 6 later succumbed to her burns in hospital.
In another similar case in November, a blast triggered by a lit match in a residential flat in Ranchore Line injured a couple and their two daughters. Police attributed the explosion to accumulated gas inside the home.
