Multan: A man accused of brutally murdering his mother and two sisters in the name of honour in Multan was killed in an alleged police encounter in Kahror Pakka, police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) sources confirmed.

The suspect, identified as Aman Abbasi, was allegedly killed by gunfire from his own accomplices, who ambushed a police team while he was being transported for further investigation and recovery of evidence.

According to CTD sources, the police team was taking Abbasi to Kahror Pakka to identify the crime scene and recover evidence when armed accomplices lying in wait opened indiscriminate fire in an apparent attempt to free him.

Police retaliated, triggering an exchange of fire during which Abbasi sustained bullet injuries allegedly fired by his accomplices and died at the scene. The attackers escaped under the cover of darkness.

Police shifted the body to a hospital for a post-mortem examination and launched a search operation to arrest the fleeing suspects.

Background of the Case

On October 28, a fire broke out at a house in Multan’s DHA area, killing a woman and her two daughters. The incident was initially believed to be an accidental fire. However, subsequent police investigations revealed that the three women had allegedly been murdered and the scene deliberately set on fire to conceal the crime.

Investigators identified the victims’ son, Aman Abbasi, as the prime suspect. According to police, he allegedly attacked his mother and two sisters on the head with a wooden object, rendering them unconscious before pouring petrol over them and setting them ablaze in the name of honour.

Police also obtained CCTV footage from a petrol station where the suspect had allegedly purchased the fuel used in the crime.

Following the investigation, DHA police registered a case and arrested Abbasi. Police and investigative sources said the suspect confessed to murdering his mother and two sisters during interrogation.

He was subsequently killed in the alleged encounter while being transported for further investigation. Police have launched efforts to track down the accomplices involved in the attack.
