Sindh Establishes Journalists Facilitation Desk

KARACHI: In a decisive move to address the pressing professional challenges faced by media personnel, the Sindh Information Department has officially established a dedicated Journalists Facilitation Desk under the directives of Provincial Minister Sharjeel Memon.
Announced on Monday, the newly instituted facilitation desk comes into immediate effect across the province, aiming to streamline communication and promptly resolve administrative and operational grievances encountered by working journalists and registered press clubs.
According to the details released by the provincial authorities, the initiative is designed to serve as a single-window operation for media representatives seeking official assistance, accreditation, and liaison with various governmental bodies.
Provincial leadership emphasized that protecting freedom of the press and facilitating the media fraternity in the discharge of their constitutional duties remains a top priority for the provincial administration, ensuring that professional hurdles are minimized through institutional support.
The establishment of this facilitation desk is expected to bridge the existing communication gap between the provincial government and media houses, fostering a more transparent and cooperative working environment.
Civil society organizations and local press bodies have welcomed the step, noting that timely intervention by the information ministry will significantly ease the day-to-day reporting challenges faced by field reporters and bureau chiefs operating across the province.
Following the immediate operational rollout of the desk, the Sindh Information Department is slated to issue further procedural guidelines to facilitate registration and grievance redressing mechanisms.
