Sindh Educational Institutions to Remain Closed on August 4
News Desk
Karachi: Students across Sindh will receive an additional day off immediately after the end of the summer vacation, as the provincial government has announced the closure of all educational institutions on August 4 in observance of Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
The Sindh School Education Department issued an official notification stating that all government and private schools, colleges, and other educational institutions across the province will remain closed on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The holiday coincides with 20 Safar 1448 AH.
The announcement comes just as educational institutions are scheduled to reopen on August 3 following the summer break, effectively giving students and staff a shorter first week after the vacation period.
According to the notification, the closure applies to both public and private institutions, and the department has directed school administrations and relevant authorities to ensure full implementation of the decision.
Provincial authorities traditionally declare a public holiday each year on the occasion of Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), and this year’s announcement was made in advance to help students, parents, and teachers adjust their academic schedules accordingly.
With classes set to resume on August 3, many families are now revising travel and study plans in light of the additional holiday announced by the Sindh government.
