Sidra Murder Case: ATC Seeks Arguments on Sept 5

Rawalpindi: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi on Monday summoned arguments from the prosecution and defence on September 5 on separate petitions seeking cancellation of bail granted to suspects and challenging the court’s jurisdiction in the Sidra Arab murder case.
Sidra Arab, a married woman, was allegedly murdered within the jurisdiction of Pirwadhai Police Station following orders issued by a jirga.
During the proceedings, Public Prosecutor Rana Saadat Ali appeared on behalf of the state, while defence counsels Basharat Ullah and Ilyas Siddiqui represented the accused.
The prosecution moved an application seeking cancellation of the bail granted to the suspects nominated in the murder case.
The court issued notices to the relevant parties and directed them to present their arguments on the bail cancellation plea at the next hearing.
Meanwhile, the defence counsel filed a petition challenging the jurisdiction of the ATC to hear the case.
After hearing the preliminary submissions, the court also directed both sides to present their arguments on the jurisdiction plea on September 5.
The court will take up both matters at the next hearing.
