Quetta: Security forces have killed 11 militants in separate intelligence-based operations in Balochistan’s Kharan and Washuk districts, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operations were conducted on September 6 and 7 following intelligence reports about the presence of militants affiliated with what it described as the Indian-sponsored group “Fitna al-Hindustan.”
In Kharan, security forces foiled an alleged attempt by militants to block a road, killing eight militants during the operation, according to the ISPR.
A separate intelligence-based operation was carried out in Washuk, where three militants were killed and their hideout was destroyed, the ISPR said.
Security forces also recovered a large quantity of explosives during the operations. The ISPR said around 2.9 tonnes of explosives were seized and were allegedly being used to prepare improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The military said further details about the identities and activities of the killed militants would be released later.
A clearance operation is currently underway in the areas to ensure that no remaining militants are present, according to the ISPR.
The claims could not be independently verified.
