Senate Panel Summons ASF Official Over Alleged Passenger Mistreatment

ISLAMABAD: A Senate committee has summoned an official from the Airports Security Force (ASF) following concerns over alleged mistreatment of passengers, including parliamentarians, at Karachi’s airport.

The Senate Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges convened on Wednesday to address various privilege motions, with the ASF’s conduct taking center stage.

During the meeting, chaired by Senator Syed Waqar Mehdi, members discussed a privilege motion raised by Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri.

The committee reviewed a response to an inquiry report it had requested last month, which indicated that the ASF official in question had been transferred to a different posting.

Senator Saadia Abbasi highlighted the seriousness of the allegations, emphasizing the need for accountability within the ASF.

The committee’s concerns reflect broader issues regarding passenger treatment and security protocols at airports, which have significant implications for public trust in aviation security.

Looking ahead, the committee plans to invite the ASF official to its next meeting to provide further clarification on the matter.

This development underscores the Senate’s commitment to addressing grievances related to passenger rights and ensuring that security personnel adhere to appropriate conduct.
