Punjab Tightens Security Across Province

LAHORE: In the wake of emerging security challenges, Inspector General of Police (IG) Punjab Abdul Karim has ordered strict security enhancements across Lahore and the entire province, mandating rigorous monitoring of all sensitive installations.
The directive, issued on Friday, places a primary focus on safeguarding vital public spaces, religious sites, and commercial hubs to preempt any potential threats.
According to the provincial police headquarters, all regional and district police officers have been instructed to ensure foolproof security arrangements around mosques, imambargahs, shrines, and bustling marketplaces.
Enhanced patrolling, intelligence-based operations, and snap-checking have been immediately enforced, while law enforcement personnel have been put on high alert to maintain public order and safety.
The heightened security posture comes as part of broader preventive strategies by provincial authorities to curb potential criminal and subversive activities.
Citizens frequenting public places and commercial centers are likely to experience stricter security protocols, including thorough frisking and vehicle identification checks at entry and exit points of major urban centers across Punjab.
Law enforcement agencies have also been directed to review and upgrade standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the surveillance of sensitive locations.
Further administrative reviews and security audits will be conducted in the coming days to assess the implementation of these directives and ensure absolute vigilance across all districts.
