Indian Strategic Posture Endangering South Asian Stability: SPD

GILGIT: A senior official from Pakistan’s Strategic Plans Division (SPD) has warned that India’s evolving strategic behaviour and ultra-nationalist policies are actively undermining regional security and upsetting the delicate strategic balance in South Asia.
Speaking at a national workshop titled ‘Evolving World Order and Strategic Stability in South Asia’—organized jointly by the Centre for International Strategic Studies (CISS) Islamabad and Karakoram International University—retired Maj Gen Syed Shahab Shahid argued that contemporary Indian leadership is driven by Hindutva ideology.
He stated that this philosophy has fostered a dangerous sense of exceptionalism and military superiority, directly jeopardizing the broader regional security calculus amid rapid technological advancements.
Defense analysts and academic experts at the forum emphasized that regional stability can no longer be evaluated solely through traditional military power metrics. Instead, they called for a comprehensive approach encompassing technological shifts, nuclear restraint, and diplomatic engagement to prevent miscalculations between nuclear-armed neighbors in South Asia.
The discourse is expected to influence upcoming policy reviews and academic frameworks addressing arms control, strategic deterrence, and regional diplomacy, as think tanks continue to urge multilateral dialogue to mitigate escalating tensions across the subcontinent.
