PSX Rallies as Cooling US-Iran Tensions Boost Investor Confidence
News Desk
KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) maintained its robust recovery trajectory on Wednesday, driven by easing geopolitical tensions and retreating international oil prices that significantly bolstered investor sentiment across major sectors.
According to market reports from Topline Securities Ltd, the benchmark KSE-100 index climbed 1,360.33 points to touch an intraday high of 172,762.41. The market eventually settled at 172,232.51, posting a solid gain of 830.43 points, or 0.48 percent, marking its third consecutive positive session.
The positive momentum was heavily supported by softer global oil prices and growing optimism over receding diplomatic tensions between the United States and Iran. Analysts noted that the favorable external environment helped revive risk appetite among domestic and institutional investors while easing long-standing concerns regarding external-account pressures.
Market activity was further energized by strong speculative buying in the refinery sector. Pakistan Refinery surged to its upper circuit limit,
while key industry players including Attock Refinery, National Refinery, and Cnergyico PK also finished the trading day in positive territory amid widespread expectations that long-awaited refinery upgrade agreements could be formally signed within the week.
