PM Takes Notice of Deadly IJP Road Accident

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday took notice of a tragic road accident on Islamabad’s IJP Road, where a dumper truck overturned, crushing multiple vehicles and resulting in the loss of four lives, including two women. Three others sustained injuries in the incident.

Expressing grief over the loss of precious lives, the prime minister prayed for the deceased and extended condolences to the bereaved families.

He directed authorities to improve the traffic system and sought a detailed report on the accident. Additionally, he instructed that all possible medical aid be provided to the injured.

Rescue teams and local police swiftly responded to the scene, launching an emergency operation to retrieve those trapped.

An official confirmed that one of the deceased has been identified as Khushkhal, while the identities of the other three victims, including the two women, remain unknown.

Authorities stated that the bodies of the deceased have been shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital in Islamabad.

Among the injured, one has been taken to PIMS, while another is receiving treatment at Polyclinic Hospital in Rawalpindi.

Rescue operations are still underway, and further updates will be provided as more details emerge.

Meanwhile,at least 10 passengers were killed on the spot and several others injured when a passenger bus hit a pillar on the elevated road after the brakes of the bus failed near Kallar Kahar on Saturday afternoon.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson said that the motorway police evacuated the people trapped inside the bus, adding that the accident took place when the bus was travelling from Islamabad to Lahore.

A case of the fatal incident has been registered with the Kallar Kahar police station against the company and further investigation was underway till the filing of this report.

Earlier this month, a double-cabin mini truck travelling from Upper Dir to the Damil-Nasar area of Chitral met with an accident at Kochhangul near the police station in Ashriat, leaving at least five people and 12 others critically injured.
