PM Shehbaz and Fazl Discuss Tensions Between Federal and KP Governments
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a telephone conversation with Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam—Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Saturday, focusing on reducing tensions between the federal government and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration.
During the call, the Prime Minister congratulated Fazl on his recent Umrah pilgrimage and extended an invitation for further discussions at the Prime Minister’s House. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Fazl accepted the invitation, with a meeting anticipated to occur soon.
This dialogue follows recent interactions between Fazl and various political figures, highlighting his role in fostering communication across the political spectrum. The conversation comes in the wake of unsuccessful negotiations on October 3 aimed at reconciling differences between the Centre and the opposition alliance, Tehreek-i-Tahafuz-i-Ayin-i-Pakistan (TTAP), which ended in a deadlock.
Looking ahead, the upcoming meeting between Shehbaz and Fazl is expected to address ongoing political friction and may pave the way for more constructive dialogue between the federal government and provincial authorities, potentially stabilizing the political landscape in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
