ISLAMABAD: The United States and Pakistan have intensified high-level diplomatic and financial engagement regarding digital asset regulation, signaling a shared commitment to building a secure, sustainable, and globally aligned framework for the rapidly expanding virtual asset market.
US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker held a crucial meeting with Minister of State and Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) chief Bilal Bin Saqib in Islamabad on Sunday to deliberate upon recent strategic developments shaping Pakistan’s digital regulatory landscape.
During the comprehensive briefing, Mr Saqib apprised the US envoy of ongoing institutional measures designed to establish a modern, transparent, and robust oversight mechanism for digital currencies and blockchain technologies.
Both dignitaries engaged in broader discussions concerning the evolution of the digital economy, placing significant emphasis on fostering technological innovation while strictly upholding international standards of financial transparency and anti-money laundering protocols.
This renewed bilateral dialogue underscores Islamabad’s strategic push to integrate its emerging digital economy with international markets, providing much-needed regulatory clarity for investors and tech enterprises alike.
Aligning Pakistan’s virtual asset framework with global benchmarks is viewed as a vital step toward attracting foreign direct investment, curbing illicit financial flows, and boosting confidence in the country’s broader financial ecosystem.
As both nations continue to refine their collaborative approach, further technical exchanges and expert consultations are anticipated in the coming months.
These upcoming engagements aim to finalize comprehensive policy guidelines, ensuring that Pakistan’s digital asset sector operates on a secure footing capable of withstanding global economic shifts.
