KP Govt Lacks Seriousness in Combating Terrorism:Muqam

PESHAWAR: Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions, Amir Muqam, has launched a scathing critique against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, accusing the provincial administration of lacking genuine seriousness and political will to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the region.
Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, the federal minister expressed grave concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the province.
He asserted that while federal and security institutions continue to render supreme sacrifices to restore peace, the provincial ruling party remains consumed by political point-scoring and confrontation with federal authorities instead of prioritizing counter-terrorism operations.
The remarks underscore the persistent political friction between Islamabad and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration, particularly on matters of national security, intelligence sharing, and law enforcement coordination.
Analysts note that such continuous polarization between the federal government and the provincial setup severely undermines unified counter-terrorism strategies and hampers effective border and internal security management.
Political observers anticipate that the latest verbal salvo will further escalate tensions between the ruling coalition in Islamabad and the regional leadership.
Meanwhile, civil society organizations and security experts have repeatedly urged both political divides to set aside partisan differences and formulate a cohesive, bipartisan national security framework to protect citizens and stabilize the volatile frontier region.
